To celebrate the 4th of July we headed up to Evanston, Wyoming to spend it with our friends, the Jones family. We drove up there the night before to be able to have more time with them. The guys spent the night playing Xbox while us girls had fun talking and playing with the kids. The kids were so excited to be together! They always have so much fun. Getting them to bed that night was a challenge. Vanessa and Anellina insisted on sleeping in the same room so it took us a bit to get then to settle down. What finally got them to sleep was telling them the Sleeping Beauty story. Boy, I must be a boring story teller 🙂

To celebrate the holiday, RoShawn bought some tulle and we made patriotic tutus for the girls and braided stars in their hair. They looked so cute and they loved that they were matching! The boys had fun playing Xbox again. For lunch, we headed to McDonald’s and let the kids play. It had little horse saddles to sit on as chairs. The kids LOVED that! After lunch, we all headed back to the house to take a much needed nap. Staying up late the night before sure got to us. Mark also wasn’t feeling the best so we just relaxed for a bit before heading out to the festivities. We stopped by the park and let the kids play in the blowup toys for a while and swing. After that we headed to one of the may firework stores to buy a few things. I have never been in an actual firework store before. We were amazed with the amount of fireworks they had and how much they were! We ended up buying a few sparklers and poppers for the kids so they could have some fun that night. We came back to the house to fix dinner and Mark totally was not feeling well. He was showing symptoms of the flu and he was out the whole rest of the night. We debated on heading home early but decided to let the kids watch the fireworks they I would drive home afterwards. What a bummer to get sick on a holiday! The Jones’ apartment is in the perfect location to see all the fireworks. We were amazed with the amount that we saw. The whole sky was filled with fireworks. Some from the city and most from individuals. It was awesome to see! There was no need for us to buy any fireworks. We were able to just sit back and enjoy the show!

We had a great time in Evanston with our friends and appreciate their hospitality in letting us come up and share the holiday with them.
