On Saturday, Solomon was able to join us for the day so we chose to go to the St. Louis City Museum. On our way, we stopped to look at the world’s largest man statue. He was a giant! The kids got to climb up and sit in his chair. They looked so little in it! We also were able to see some of Solomon’s dental school.

We then headed to St. Louis. It’s about a 35 minute drive from their house in Alton. On the drive there, we decided to call and order some to go lunch from Pappy’s Smokehouse. It has been featured on several food shows and it gets very busy. We pulled into the parking lot and it was packed and the line was so long. Luckily, because we called before hand, we were able to walk in and pick it up without waiting in the long line.

We decided to eat our lunch inside the City Museum. I am not sure that was the best idea. There were so many people there and it was hard to get all the kids crammed into a booth to eat because they were all so distracted. All the kids had to go potty during lunch so we took them to the not so clean bathroom. Yuck! I was sort of freaking out that the kids were touching everything in that dirty room. I wanted to rub the kids and I with sanitizer after getting out! I basically did just that! Phew! That was an adventure in itself! Lunch was delicious! The BBQ did not disappoint! Yum Yum! After getting all the kids fed and changed, we finally were able to start exploring the museum. There was so much to do there. We spent over 7 hours playing there and we could have spent more! It had slides, tunnels, caves, welded metal turned into crawl spaces and ladders and just so much more all throughout the 20 story building! The kids and us adults loved it all! The babies were obviously too small to do most of the activities so we took turns watching them so we could all go and play! The kids still talk about how much fun they had and that they really really want to go back to the museum. I think we would go back to St. Louis just to go to it because it was so unique and so much fun! I am glad that we were able to do something fun with the kids.

We headed home to let the kids play for their last official day in Illinois. They enjoyed playing in a tent and watching movies with Gideon. They made lots of fun memories with him! Mark and I were able to play some Wii games and watch a movie with Amanda and Solomon before going to bed. It was so fun seeing them and we were sad that our vacation was coming to an end. We are also so grateful for their hospitality in letting us come and stay with them and for Amanda being our tour guide.
