I have had a sudden burst of energy so I thought while I was feeling good I would tackle the baby’s room! I was really excited to get started on it! The room was already painted a light tan which was what I wanted so that was just a plus!
I found an idea online to cut out different size circles from fabric and starch them to the wall. My friend has used fabric starch before on the walls and she really liked how it turned out so I decided to give it a try. I used my trusty circle cake pans and first cut out templates out of wrapping paper so I could place them on the wall and decided where I wanted them. After figuring out where I wanted them, I started on starching the fabric circles. I had to completely soak the fabric in starch and get the excess starch off before placing it on the wall. Once I did that I placed them on the wall and used my hands to push out any bubbles and smooth out the fabric. It was a messy but very easy process. I loved that I could have different colors and patterns on the wall to match the room decor!!
Next, came hanging the paper lanterns above the bed to act as a mobile. I love how it has gives the room depth and texture and it just pulls the whole room together.

We decided to give baby boy the dresser which all three of other kids used plus Mark when he was a baby. We painted it white with Vanessa and through the years it has received lots of “love.” So it was time to give it a makeover. I chose a light blue/gray spray paint and got yo work. I lightly sanded and then sprayed over the existing white. Then I distressed it and added new knobs. It turned out perfectly and you wouldn’t even guess it’s over 30 years old!
I wanted to make some curtains but didn’t want to spend lots of money on them. I had some extra fabric left over from doing the circles and an extra crib sheet that ripped so I decided to piece some curtains together!! Totally was able to save some major bucks and I love them!
I then took an old frame that I got at the DI years ago and painted it orange and distressed it. Next I found a fun giraffe silhouette pattern and cut it out and placed it on the glass. It was perfect and added the finishing touch!!
It was such a fun project and I just love the room and colors! I can’t wait for baby boy to finally come so he can enjoy it too!!
