Grandma and Grandpa Carter were able to book a family retreat at the Miner’s Club in Park City for the whole family. Each family was able to pick a night to spend up at the condo with them. We were able to come up on Saturday and stay until Sunday. On Saturday, all the family came up and we were able to do lots of different activities together which included watching a movie in the theater room, talking, and playing card and board games. It was fun being able to play games and just relax. The kids had fun playing with their cousins and they were so excited to be able to spend the night. That night we decided to take the kids for a swim out in the heated pool. There was snow on the ground and actually snowing while we played in the warm water. Vanessa and Owen thought that was so cool to be swimming outside in the snow.
When it was time to get out, we wrapped towels around us and ran for the door but to our utter dismay the door was locked and now so was the door into the pool. Jackson had a key but Grandpa grabbed it before heading back up to the condo. Mark was supposed to come back in 5 minutes but that was not happening. We were stuck outside in freezing cold temps and we were wet. We started to shout and pound on the doors to see if we could get anyone to here us and open the doors. We banged and screamed for more than 10 minutes and no one was coming. By then Vanessa and Owen were shivering and crying. I decided to try running up the outside stairs to see if any of those doors were open. Luckily, they were and I was able to get inside and run downstairs to let the kids in. What a relief that was! I seriously thought that we were going to freeze outside before someone came to look for us. Needless to say I was not happy that they left us with no key to get back in and that Mark’s 5 minutes turned into more than 30!
After everyone calmed down and got warm, we had dinner and settled into playing games again. Mark and I had a good game of Rummikub with Grandma before heading to bed. It is one of our favorite games to play with her.
Sariah was being especially cute with Great Grandma. I think she could sense that she wasn’t feeling the best so she gave her lots of hugs, love, and kisses. What a little sweetheart we have. We are so glad that we had the chance to join the family and stay the night. We were able to relax and have lots of fun!!
