We have officially hit the half way mark in this pregnancy! To be honest, it feels like I have been pregnant for so long! I guess that is what you get when I was sick for the first 4 months. I couldn’t be more excited to be halfway and that our little guy is growing!
We were able to go in and do the big 20 week ultrasound. He is growing well and has all 10 fingers and 10 toes. He is very active and I can feel him move more and more each day. On the ultrasound they did find that he has a two vessel cord instead of a normal three vessel cord. They don’t know why this happens sometimes but they want to keep a close eye on him as he is developing. My midwife wants me to see a Perinatalogist to do another in depth ultrasound to make sure his heart and kidneys are developed properly and are functioning well. I was really worried after they told me about the cord. I have never heard of such a thing and it just stressed me out! I want our little guy to grow and be healthy. I researched it online and found that there are a lot of babies that are born with a two vessel cord. Most are healthy babies but just smaller in size when born. After reading a lot of info, my fears and worries were diminished. It will be nice to get another ultrasound and see what the Perinatalogist has to say in a few weeks. As for now, he is one healthy little baby boy and we couldn’t be more happy!!
