We are working hard on getting settled into our new home. It is still hard for us to believe that we own this house! It has so much more open space than our previous house and we are just in love with it.
Before we moved in, we got to work on installing new floors in the kitchen. We used the same material that we used in the last house to cover up the not so pretty white linoleum floor. Mark worked long and hard to get the floors in so we could move all of our stuff over. It was so nice to be able to have new floor and it makes such a difference! We also have switched out all the main level light switches to the rocker switches and replaced the brass door handles to iron rubbed bronze. Just these few updates has really added that wow factor to the house.
Another upgrade that we did was to have granite counter tops installed in the kitchen and get a new under-mount sink and faucet. We also brought a new microwave and dishwasher to help update the kitchen. It was hard for both of us to leave our newly remodeled kitchen and move into a home with an outdated one. So we had to update in some ways. Painting the cabinets is on the to do list but for now these updates have really helped make the kitchen feel and look so much better.
The kids are loving all the space! They each have their own bedrooms and we even have an extra room we will turn into an office/craft room! We are loving the finished downstairs and the family room! We definitely made the right chose in buying this house. The weather has been cold and snowy so we will have to wait until spring to really be able to enjoy our huge backyard but the idea just excites all of us! This home will be a place where we can stay for quite sometime and maybe even make it our final home! We are excited to get settled and to start making plans on further updating the space and making this house our home!
