We have been in our first home for just over 2 1/2 years. During these past few years, we have worked hard to make it our home by updating it with a new and more functional kitchen, fresh paint, updated bathrooms, finished laundry room and much more. It has been our other baby and we have enjoyed learning new skills as we tackled each new project.
Both Mark and I have been feeling that we should try selling our home within the next year. We were starting to out grow it and it just felt like it was time to move on. The house was updated and property and house values were starting to go up. We have been watching Zillow for some time and decided that if our home value reached $205,000 then we would try selling it.
There was a family in our ward that was looking to buy and we asked if they would be interested in seeing our house. They agreed and we showed it to them. They liked it but they wanted something a little bigger for their family. We were OK with that and decided that we would try selling in the Spring after we had the baby. I was in no rush.
One day, as I was checking our mail, I started to chat with our neighbor. We got to talking and I mentioned that we would probably be putting our house up for sale the upcoming Spring. She told me that they were actually looking at buying instead of renting and that they would buy our house. I told her our asking price and she said, “SOLD!” She loves our house and all the upgrades that we have put into it. I was shocked and to be honest didn’t fully believe her but I told her if she was interested to let us know. That night I told Mark of our conversation.
The next day, she came over and told us that they were pre-approved to buy our house and that we just needed to get our paper work in order! Both Mark and I were shocked that we could actually have a buyer for our house that quick without using realtors! We discussed what we needed to do and our options about getting another house. We wanted to stay in the neighborhood or close to it because we love our location. Now this is where things just start falling into place even more. A family just down the street mentioned that they were wanting to sell their house in the spring as well. The home happened to be a rambler with 6 bedrooms and 3 baths, totally finished and with a huge backyard. It also happened to have a 3 car garage. All things that Mark and I wanted in our next home. It was perfect and we fell in love with it. We talked with them and asked if they would be willing to sell in November instead of the spring. They agreed and told us their asking price. It was well within our budget and we would be able to buy without using a single realtor as well! It was working out perfectly!
We researched what we needed to do to get the process rolling and met with both parties involved in the buy and sell of the houses. It wasn’t too much work, just a lot of coordination. It took us about a month to get all the paper work in line and the loans moving before we were able to sell and close on our new house on November 20th!! We couldn’t believe how simple and easy the whole process was! We all knew that it was supposed to be and that we all received some divine help from up above. It was fate!! After buying we found out that the previous owners to our house received a job offer down in Draper and would be building a new home there. They wouldn’t have been able to take the job offer if they didn’t sell their house to us. It was another example of how perfect this sell/buy was.
With the sell our our house we were able to pay off all of our debt and become officially debt free besides our mortgage and have extra to put into savings! We have never been in that situation and oh does it feel wonderful and liberating!!! We now own our cars and school loans are a thing of the past!!! We are so thankful for this tremendous blessing our Heavenly Father has granted us!! It still just amazes us of how things just were able to work out so perfectly!!
