Just recently, Mark and I have set some goals to help bring our family closer together and make our home a place of safety and refuge from the world. With much discussion, we made our list of what we needed to do to achieve our goals.
Our Family Goals:
- Stop yelling at our kids. This has proven to take a lot of patience, self control, and unconditional love, but the results have been well worth the efforts!
- Read Scriptures. Say Family Prayer. Hold Family Home Evening Consistently. As Latter-day Saints, we have been promised that if we do these things consistently then we will be able to become a strong family unit and focus our lives on our Savior.
- Putting a Limit on TV. We have been spending way to much time in front of the TV and not enough time doing activities that can bond us together. Plus, we can keep out a lot of bad influences when not watching it so much.
- For me to be a stay-at-home mom. It has been my dream ever since I can remember to be able to stay home with my children and raise them. I really enjoy being a homemaker. I know that isn’t a very respectable job in the eyes of the world but I don’t care about that one bit! What I care able is how I will be perceived in the eyes of my children. I want them to know that my family comes first and foremost.
The past several months, I have been getting an overwhelming impression that I needed to take that HUGE leap of FAITH and finally quit my job. Taking a blind leap of faith is very difficult for me. I’m a planner and I like to know how things are going to work out. Needless to say, I sent in my notice and will officially be a stay at home mom! I’m so excited and even though we will be short some financially, I know that we will be blessed because we are following the promptings we have been given and we will continue to pay our tithing faithfully. I know that if we do we will be blessed. Anytime I start to doubt, a scriptures fills my mind.
3 Nephi:10, the Savior states: Prove me now herewith, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Just recently, I launched my cake Facebook page, Sabrina’s Cakes! Within a few days, I got 4 cake jobs and we also found out that Mark will be getting a raise come September!! It will actually be the same about that I was making! What a huge blessing for our family! I know that our Heavenly Father and Savior are aware of our needs and will bless us with what we need if we faithfully keep His commandments. What a testimony building experience this has been for us. When in doubt, pay your tithing and you will be sustained whether financially, spiritually, or physically.
Amen to everything you said!! Stanton and I have had the same thoughts about working together to make our family better. We’ve started implementing a few things and I know as we continue to do so, our family will be blessed.
