My handsome husband, Mr. Sorensen turned the BIG 3-0 this year! WOW, that means that I will be there in a few years! I talked with Mark about turning 30 and if it seems weird to leave the 20s behind. He said that the 20s have been good and filled with lots of hard work to get him to where he is today and that he is now looking forward to the 30 and being established in a career and life. That’s a great way to look at it! I’ll be happy to welcome 30 when it comes for me too!
His actually birthday fell on Mother’s Day so we decided to celebrate it on Saturday. I took him out to eat at Sizzler with the kids on Friday to start off the birthday weekend. We always enjoy an evening out as a family.
For his birthday surprise, we got him a basketball hoop. Mark has been saying he wanted one for quite sometime and I knew that it would be the perfect gift. It was also convenient that I found one on sale! That is never a bad thing at the Sorensen house. I was so excited to buy it because I have been putting money away for just that reason. I had it shipped to our house and had our sweet neighbors store it in their garage until his birthday. David also was kind enough to set it up and put it in our driveway Saturday morning. When Mark woke up, the kids were so excited to give him his presents. One of the gifts was a basket ball with a note inside stating the other part was outside. He was pretty darn happy when he saw it, which made my heart happy too! He has been outside every night shooting hoops! I’d say its getting some use!
I planned a big birthday party BBQ with family and friends. It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. While I was getting the cupcakes finished and things set up, Mark was able to meet some family and friends to play some laser tag. They sure had a lot of fun!
For the BBQ, we had lots of family and friends come to help us celebrate. I made some gourmet cupcakes, Tres Leches, Oreo, and Snickerdooke and they turned out delicious! It was a lot of work but it was worth it because everyone enjoyed eating them!
We had such a fun day celebrating! I sure hope he was able to feel how special we all think he is and how much we love him! I’m so happy that he is mine and that we can share these fun events together as a family! So here’s to turning 30 babe!!! We hope it’s an amazing year!!! Happy Birthday Mark! We love you!!
