One day while we were at Lowe’s (really when aren’t we at Lowe’s these days!), we walked past the discount tile isle and stopped dead in our tracks! There sitting on the self were three boxes of subway back-splash tile which just happened to be in the exact colors of our kitchen. Coincidence? I think not! What was even better was the price! They were marked down from $6.00 per sheet to $.78 per 12×12 sheet! My goodness, we snatched up those boxes so quickly and were just ecstatic that we could actually afford to put in a back-splash. Our total cost of the back-splash was around $50.00 including the thin set and grout! Now, I call that a steal of a deal!!!
While Mark was at work during the day, I got to work on the back-splash. It was much easier than I thought and it went pretty quick. The only thing is that it was very messy and glass is a lot harder to cut straight. After a few mess up, I got the hang of it. It took me one day to apply the thin set and tile on the walls. I let it sit 24 hours before applying the grout. We chose a white grout which really makes the tile pop! The tile really adds the finishing touches to the new kitchen and makes it look much more impressive. We can’t get enough of the kitchen. We love cooking and eating in there now. It is probably are favorite place to be, which was our ultimate goal!!!! It seemed like it took forever but we were able to finish it in just under 3 weeks. Now we can sit back and enjoy it for however long we are here!
