We weren’t planning on doing the flooring for a little while but once we got started with the whole renovation we knew that we just needed to get it done. The white floors were blending in with the cabinets and making that whole new look feel blah! They had to go and quick! We wanted to do laminate but with our research we found that laminate is not water resistant or waterproof. Which is definitely a characteristic we need with 3 small kids. We found a product at Home Dept called Allure Ultra. It looks and installs exactly like laminate but it is actually a kind of vinyl. And it is 100% waterproof with a lifetime warranty. We went with a medium dark hand-scrapped style.

It took us a full Saturday to do the install but the best part was that we could lay it right over our existing linoleum floors! We were so excited about that feature! Mark was able to do the install himself with the help of his lovely wife too! Adding the floors makes a huge difference in the appearance of the new kitchen. It adds the pop which it was lacking! We just love how they changed the whole look of the kitchen. I LOVE LOVE seeing the transformation from old to new! We are very happy with how they are holding up and so far they have been waterproof!
