On the last day of school before Christmas break, Vanessa’s class had a talent show. I had asked her what she wanted to do for it a few weeks before and she had said a cartwheel and a back bend. So we worked on it those weeks leading up to it. I also talked with her about it and that she would need to stand I front of the class and do her talent. She is very shy and gets stage fright easily. So the day of the talent show arrived and we arrived well on time. Vanessa sat down and as soon as her teacher started to ask who wanted to go, she shrunk down in her chair and looked so nervous. She was asked several times if she was ready to share her talent and she shook her head no until she was the last person left to do it. I finally had to bribe her to do it with lunch to McDonald’s. Probably not the best way to get her to do something but it worked. She switched the cartwheel to holding her baby sister and then did her back bend. I was very proud of her that she overcame her fear and did her talent.
