Mr. Owen has successfully graduated to wearing big boy underwear on October 18th! He is now officially potty trained!!! We can’t help but be extremely excited about this because we thought it was going to be a very long process with him.
We started talking about going potty a few months after he turned three. Just to get him thinking about it. When we did talk about it to him and asked if he wanted to try going potty he would tell us, “No mom, I too little. I only this big.” He would also tell us, “I go potty when I five, just like Nessa!” We seriously thought it might take that long for him to want to be potty trained. He was completely content with his diaper and didn’t want to change that one bit!
We let it go for awhile to see if he would change his mind. One day, I was talking to him about it and he told me that he can’t be potty trained cause he still has “that many diapers” (he opened the diaper drawer and pointed to his diapers). I then asked him that when his diapers are all gone will he be a big boy and go potty. He surprisingly said yes. I thought to myself that it couldn’t be that easy, could it? So while Owen was asleep that night I took out all of his diapers but two so we could start the process when he woke up the next morning. Since that day, we have said goodbye to diapers and hello to the potty! I am one happy momma!!! We are so proud of our big boy! Such an accomplishment!!
