The past week and half, I have not been feeling like myself…I started to feel randomly nauseous, overly hungry, craving homemade nachos, and extremely tired! I became even more suspicious when that week at the gym I couldn’t make it through my normal exercise routine which was then followed by the worst migraine I have yet to experience.
I voiced my concerns with Mark and we both decided that I should take a pregnancy test. It was the first day of school and after dropping off Vanessa, I ran to the store to pick up a test. When I got home, I took the test and awaited for the results…which turned out to be positive! I took the positive test to Mark and asked if he was ready for #4. What a surprise indeed! We weren’t planning on adding to our family for another few months but we welcomed this blessing with excitement!
Because we weren’t planning this pregnancy, I didn’t know to track my cycle so we had no idea how far along we were. On September 3, I went in for my first prenatal visit. This time around, I chose to see a midwife, Becky Vance. She was my previous doctor’s midwife and I had seen her a few times during my pregnancy with Sariah. At the visit, she did an ultrasound to see just how far along I was. The baby was still quite small and was measuring 6 weeks. At the visit, I discussed my concerns of the morning sickness that I was having and let her know that I have had Hyperemesis gravidarum with all of my pregnancies. She prescribed me some anti-nausea pills and discussed a few other options to help with the sickness. I was sure hoping that I could curb the nausea so I could get through the first trimester without medical intervention…but that was not the case. The next 3 months are a blur for me but I am going to try and document as much as I can. What a ride it has been but we are so grateful to have this little baby joining our family April 24, 2014!
